Welcome to the inaugural blog post of SEOAly! I’m a budding SEO. Be patient - this is one of many projects I’m attempting to launch simultaneously!
A little background on my SEO knowledge - I know what NOT to do and a lot of what TO do. That said, I don’t know it all and still have a lot to learn. For those who know SEO and wonder if I’m one of the many scam artists out there that take advantage of the general public’s ignorance of SEO, here’s the answer: NO. How do you know I’m being truthful? I guess there’s really no way to know…aside from the fact that I’ll call out bull shit SEOs as follows:
- Are subscriptions to “monthly submissions services” a scam? YES!
- Is “submission software” a good thing? NO
- Will a reputable SEO ever call or e-mail you to offer their services? Not typically…do your homework!
- Will a reputable SEO offer “guaranteed results in 7-10 days…”? NEVER! (Hey, if Matt Cutts can’t guarantee page one in Google for half a million bucks, who the hell are these people kidding???)
- Are offers of “10,000 incoming links in within 48 hours…” and “Page 1 in Google…” legit? HELL NO!
Like I said, I still have a lot to learn…and I admit that a lot of what I know about what NOT to do came as a result of working for a company to whom numbers 1, 2 and 3 above apply. Don’t judge me by what they do, as I’m working to change it. Being a catalyst for change in a publicly traded company requires playing the corporate game. Changes to corporate SOP don’t come quickly or easily…I’m doing what I can.
